Taking a Tuscany Wine Tour
Have you ever considered a Tuscany wine tour? A wine tour is a wonderful idea and opportunity when you are in Italy, and an experience that you will long remember. Most Tuscany wine tours focus around Chianti wine and most tours center on Florence with the result being a typical day or evening long wine tour in Tuscany. When selecting your particular tour you will not only want to consider the cost of the tour, but the other details such as how many people will be on the tour as well as the transportation and the vineyards that you will be visiting.
A Typical Wine Tour
A Tuscany wine tour normally starts around nine in the morning and ends between six and seven in the evening. The good tours also provide a unique lunch at one of the vineyards or a special restaurant as well. The prices of these tours start at a minimum of two hundred Euros and go up from there, and this price is simply for the mini-van and guide, prices go up from there. The primary form of transportation for tours in Europe is the European styled mini-van. Sometimes the more people that are on the tour, the less expensive the tour is. This is not always the case however and they tend to be adopting the flat daily rate as they use in the US. Its important to know that the cheaper tours do not include the lunch price or any wine. There are also evening wine tours available in Tuscany and wine tasting and dinner combination are a wonderful addition to the tour. Of course there are all forms of wine tours in Tuscany available and the higher end tours can include chauffeured limousines, great food and individualized service. This is definately something to consider if your budget allows it.
The Wines in a Tour
One important decision when choosing a Tuscany wine tour is the vineyards and wine you will be tasting. The grapes of the sangiovese vines in the region between Florence and Siena in central Italy are what is known as Chianti. These are the primary targets of wine tours in Tuscany, though it is possible to experience other tours as well as mixed tours. Since this region is so heavy with Chianti, I have not seen any tours that had no Chianti at all, but I have been on an excellent Cabernet tour while in Tuscany. When selecting your tour consider the vineyard, consider its age and the size and the forms of wine being produced. Something else to think about when selecting your wine tour in Tuscany is the area you are in. Depending on the time of year you arrive the natural scenery of Tuscany will vary just as it does in many parts of the world.
Taking a Tour
A wine tour in Tuscany is a grat opportunity. If it is a day tour make sure you are prepared for some walking, a daytime tour tends to really take your far into the vineyards and you will be walking alot. Evening tours dont have nearly as much walking as the daytime tours. The brochures will often tell you how you should be dressed and consider what the weather and temperature is going to be while on your tour depending on the time of year you are there. You are surely going to have an excellent time on your tour, dont forget to bring a camera!
